Read.

Depending on the book you choose, reading is a great way to learn new things, embrace personal development, or simply relax and enjoy a good story. It’s a perfect alternative to eating out of boredom!

Exercise.

If you’re bored, why not try an activity that will help you improve your physical fitness? Go for a run, dance, walk the dog, take a fitness class, toss a Frisbee around with your kids—do anything that makes you happy and gets you moving!

Practice an instrument or learn to play one.

Do you wish you spent more time practicing the piano? Have you always wanted to learn to play the guitar? If you’re bored, take a few minutes to give it a chance! Music will help you combat boredom, and learning new skills is a great way to grow as a person!

Learn a new language.

Learning a new language may sound difficult, but spending a few minutes getting familiar with a foreign language when you’re bored can help you get started. It’s also a good way to broaden your horizons and add some new knowledge to your life!

Do a puzzle.

Puzzles are a great option when you’re bored because they’ll keep you focused and engaged. Jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and Sudoku puzzles are just a few examples of options you could try!

Write in your journal.

Writing in a journal has a lot of benefits, and avoiding boredom is one of them! Whether you want to focus your journal on your day-to-day activities, your progress toward your goals, or anything else, taking just a few minutes to write things down will help you beat boredom and express a little creativity.

Spend time with your loved ones.

If you have extra time on your hands, why not spend it with the people you love? Reaching out to your friends and family will help you strengthen your relationships, so it’s a great option when you’re bored. If your loved ones aren’t readily available, call them on the phone or write them a letter!

Bring out your artistic side.

Even if you don’t consider yourself a great artist, trying something artistic will help you develop your creativity. Doing something like drawing or painting is a fun way to combat boredom, and if you’re intimidated by the blank page, you could even try an adult coloring book!

We encourage you to engage in activities like the ones above as a healthier alternative to eating when you’re bored. For more tips for a healthy lifestyle, subscribe to the blog and check out our Facebook page!
