1. Turn decisions into habits.
Maintaining your results is all about turning your healthy decisions into habits. The more automatic healthy behaviors are, the easier you’ll find it to maintain a healthy lifestyle! Work hard to continue making healthy choices until they become second nature to you. This will make it much easier to overcome temptations that arise.
2. Eat healthy foods.
One of the keys to successfully maintaining your results is continuing to make healthy meal choices. Focus on mainly eating the healthy options found in the food lists in your BBS brochure. You may want to increase the size of your portions if hunger is an issue and add in a portion of carbohydrates on your Protein Days, but sticking to the meal plan for the most part will help you maintain the progress you’ve made. Remember, you can also eat the free foods, which includes spinach, cucumbers, peppers, and celery, as well as a serving or two of healthy fats.
While your diet will play the biggest role in maintaining your results, exercise can also have a big impact. In addition to burning calories, it will help you develop lean muscle and burn fat. If you’re not currently exercising, we recommend starting slow to give your body time to adapt and building up to working out 35-40 minutes three to five times each week.
Sleep may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about maintaining a healthy weight, but it’s important because research has shown a correlation between a lack of adequate sleep and weight gain.
This study suggests that insufficient sleep leads your body to make more ghrelin, a hormone that signals your brain that it’s time to eat, and suppresses the amount of leptin, which signals your brain that you’re full. This can make it more difficult to sustain healthy habits, so we recommend getting between seven and nine hours of sleep each night. To ensure a good night’s sleep, try using Dream!
