As life gets busier, it becomes harder and harder to get everything done. How do you know which things are most important to you and what you want to focus on? Today we’ll be talking about how to prioritize your time in order to accomplish as many of your goals as possible!

When trying to prioritize your time, the first and most important step is to figure out what is most important to you. Write out a list of your top three most pressing priorities, then continue to categorize the rest by importance. Knowing what means the most to you will make it easier to decide what comes first. For example, are you more worried about finishing your book or making sure that you exercise for the day? Both are important, but knowing which one you care about more will help you accomplish that thing first!

Finishing all of our tasks by ourselves can be tempting, but it’s important to let other people help us! Do you have an older child who can take the younger one to their sports practice? Can you and your spouse trade off on grocery shopping each week? Having others help you, and of course helping them in return, can not only help you become closer to that person, but it will also allow you to pay greater attention to matters that might be more pressing!

Multi-tasking may be inefficient at times, but by combining smaller tasks can help you make the most of your time and allow more space for other tasks. Going back to our example from before, if you want to both work out and read one evening, find activities at the gym that will allow you to read and exercise at the same time, such as a stationary bike! As long as you are being safe and ensuring that things are being done correctly, combining smaller tasks can help you feel more productive!

Be sure that when you are managing your time that you aren’t being too hard on yourself. Oftentimes it feels like we have a million things to do within a twenty four hour period. No one can do it all! As long as you are doing your best to make your goals a priority, you will succeed.
