Everyone wants to stay healthy, but how many of us actually follow through with the behaviors that promote good health? This winter, we encourage you to do continue working toward optimal health by making healthy decisions.
Here are five natural ways to stay healthy this winter!
- Stay hydrated.
It may not be hot outside, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to be conscious of how much water you’re drinking! To calculate how much water you need to drink each day, divide your weight in half. That’s the number of ounces of water you should be drinking on a daily basis. Don’t worry—your Yoli drinks count!
- Get enough sleep.
It’s always important to get enough sleep, and winter is no exception. The shorter days can affect your sleeping cycles, making you feel more tired throughout the day. Getting enough rest ensures that you have energy to last through the day, so do your best to get between seven and nine hours of sleep each night.
- Wash your hands.
There’s a reason winter is known as the cold-and-flu season. Germs are especially widespread this time of year, so washing your hands regularly is incredibly important. Use warm water and scrub your hands with soap for about twenty seconds. Be sure to wash the front and back of each hand, between your fingers, and under your fingernails!
- Stay warm.
Staying warm isn’t just about comfort. The temperature has a big impact on your health! Here are some ways to stay warm:
- Dress for the weather. Wear gloves and a hat to limit exposure to the cold air.
- Keep your house warm.
- Eat warm foods on cold or chilly days.
Exercise is a great way to stay healthy, but unfortunately, the cold temperatures outside discourage a lot of people from working out. If you don’t want to venture outdoors to get a good workout in, there are a lot of ways to exercise indoors! The most obvious way is going to the gym, but you could also do some bodyweight exercises, run on a treadmill, or try an exercise DVD. If you do want to exercise outdoors, be sure to dress warmly!
