Here are some tips for safe, effective weight loss!
1. Eat real food.
One of the simplest ways to lose weight is focusing on eating real food. After all, you’re smart: you know what real food is! Lean protein, complex carbs, fruits, and vegetables are all real foods that will help you work toward weight loss. Choose these over processed foods as often as possible and avoid foods that have a lot of added sugars, sodium, or trans fats.
2. Focus on nutrients.
Many people focus solely on how many calories they eat, but the quality of the food you eat is just as important. Rather than simply counting calories, focus on getting key nutrients at every meal. Eating a diet that consists of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, fruits, and vegetables can help you lose weight and get the nutrients you need for optimal health. 3. Get enough to eat.
When you’re working to lose weight, you may be tempted to cut your food intake further than what is recommended in the BBS meal plan in order to lose weight more quickly. Doing so is a mistake for a couple of reasons. At the very least, you’ll be hungry and grumpy. You’ll lose lean muscle tissue along with fat, which will slow your metabolism and make it more difficult to lose weight. You could even permanently damage your health. Your diet will play the biggest role in your weight loss results, but exercise can also help. In addition to burning calories, exercise helps build and maintain lean muscle mass. In particular, strength-training can help you develop strong bones, control your weight, boost your stamina, and, of course, strengthen your muscles. It can even boost your metabolic rate. If you aren’t currently exercising, we encourage you to add some physical activity to your routine.
Research has shown a correlation between a lack of adequate sleep and weight gain. This study suggests that insufficient sleep leads your body to make more ghrelin, a hormone that signals your brain that it’s time to eat, and suppresses the amount of leptin, which signals your brain that you’re full.
