3 Ways to Get More Nutrients

We’re more than halfway through National Nutrition Month, and we’ve loved having this opportunity to talk about how nutrition can impact your health. Today, we want to share three ways to get more nutrients throughout the day!

1. Embrace Variety.

When it comes to nutrition, eating healthy food is great, and eating a variety of healthy foods is even better! Changing things up and eating many different foods can provide you with a greater variety of nutrients.

For example, chicken and salmon are both great sources of protein. Chicken offers more protein, and salmon offers more healthy fats. A diet that includes both chicken and salmon would provide a wider variety of nutrients than choosing only one. Try to eat a variety of healthy foods on a regular basis, and you’ll find it much easier to get a wide range of nutrients.

2. Eat the Rainbow.

One of the best ways to focus on nutrients is to take a look down at your plate and count how many colors you see. Seeing different colors usually means different nutrients! If you have a green leafy vegetable such as kale, orange carrots, and red strawberries on your plate, you have a variety of nutrients including vitamin A, vitamin C, and fiber.

This is also a great way to make sure you’re eating enough fruits and vegetables. They’re colorful, so if you look down at your plate and you see mostly brown, there’s a good chance you’re not eating enough of them!
