If you’ve been working out for a while, you may be stuck in the same old routine. But, there may be a few workout tips and tricks you haven’t heard of yet. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a beginner, these tips might work for you. Keep reading to check them out.
MUSIC FOR HIGHER INTENSITY
If you like listening to music when you work out, the kind of music you play might affect your workout. The more upbeat and fun your music is, the more upbeat and intense your workout will be. Play your favorite, energizing jams, especially when you’re having a hard time finishing a specific section of your workout. It will give your brain something to focus on, while helping you maintain a certain rhythm and performance.
WHIGH INTENSITY FOR SHORTER PERIODS
If you’re pressed for time, don’t worry. You don’t need a full hour to workout if you’re doing high intensity exercises. This usually looks like doing an intense rep with all of your energy, then resting for 15 seconds before doing it again.
If you’ve never done high intensity exercises before, here are some ideas on what to do.
- Begin with a three minute jog, sprint for 30 seconds, then walk or jog for another 30 seconds. Repeat for 10 rounds.
- Do your favorite version of planks or push ups for an entire minute, then rest for 30 seconds. Switch between the two exercises to work more muscle groups. Repeat for 10 rounds.
- Do as many burpees as you can in the span of a minute, then maintain a low intensity exercise (like jumping jacks) for thirty seconds. Repeat for 10 rounds.
STRETCH AFTER WORKOUTS
If you haven’t been stretching after your workouts, you’ve been missing out on a lot of amazing benefits. Remember, stretching before a workout could cause injury. Always make sure to warm up before stretching.
If you stretch after you workout, it will speed up recovery, improve muscle and joint range for future workouts, and help you build muscle. It’s also a great way to cool down after a workout. Jog for five minutes, walk for five minutes, then stretch. Make sure you do proper research on how to stretch correctly to avoid straining or injuring your body.
