Nutrition for Your Workouts
Whether you’re a full-time athlete, a weekend warrior, or someone who simply enjoys being physically active, the way you eat can make a huge difference in your athletic performance. Here’s how you can optimize your nutrition for your workouts!
Optimizing Your Diet
A healthy, well-balanced diet consisting of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats is a great way to fuel your active lifestyle. Those foods are also the cornerstone of the Better Body System meal plan. Depending on what kind of workouts you do, you may want to make a few adjustments to the plan to make sure you’re getting the nutrients you need to succeed!
For example, working out on Protein Days can be a challenge because you don’t have many carbohydrates to fuel your workouts, so you may find it easier to work out on Meal Days. If you traditionally exercise more than the three Meal Days you have each week, you can change some of your Protein Days to Meal Days to maintain your active lifestyle and athletic endeavors. Don’t be afraid to change things up to find what works best for you!
Supplementing Your Workouts
In addition to a healthy diet, supplements can be a great way to support your workouts!
Pre-Workout: Research shows that caffeine can benefit your athletic performance, so Passion and Thermo Burn are perfect pre-workout supplements. We recommend drinking a glass of Passion or taking two Thermo Burn capsules about an hour before you work out for the best results.
During Workout: Even mild dehydration can negatively impact both aerobic and anaerobic exercise, so if you aren’t getting enough to drink, you probably aren’t performing at your peak. As you work out, drink some Fun to stay hydrated! Fun will provide you with the electrolytes you need for proper hydration and faster recovery from exercise. As a bonus, Fun is low in calories and sweetened with stevia, so it’s the perfect drink to sip on as you work out.
Post-Workout: After exercising, refueling with protein can help build and maintain your lean muscle mass, so drink a glass of YES! YES contains 12 grams of high-quality whey protein and includes essential amino acids and macronutrients for muscle development. If you want to bump up the protein content of your shake, you can add an extra scoop of YES or mix it with dairy milk!
