Whether you’re starting a 28-day Transformation Kit, or you’re on another kind of personal transformation, it’s important to keep a record of your journey—the highs, the lows, and everything in between—so you can see how far you’ve come, especially on those days when you feel like you haven’t made any progress at all!
In today’s fast-paced world, it can be hard to slow down enough to even think about recording anything. But the benefit of a fast-paced world is there are many programs that have been created that make recording your transformation super easy!
Journaling is basically writing down how you’re feeling. It’s a great way to express all the emotions you’re probably going to experience during any kind of transformation, whether it’s physical, emotional, or (most likely) a combination of both. While some people like the physical act of putting pen to paper, if that’s not for you, there are other options: journaling on your laptop or even using voice-to-text on your smartphone. The most important part is just getting those feelings out.
Closely related to journaling is blogging or vlogging (video blogging). Basically you’re recording your feelings, significant moments, etc., of your transformation on a webpage. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re sharing it with anyone—it can be just for you. But you’re keeping a record of it. A blog could include photos to accompany your thoughts; a vlog is an actual recording of you, so as time goes on, it will show your transformation—even if you’re on an emotional journey: You will see (and hear) yourself change right before your very eyes.
Printing Your Social Media
If you’re sharing your transformation on social media, there are many options these days for making photobooks right from your Facebook or Instagram (or blog)! In many cases, you can even be selective about whether or not you want comments included, and if you want certain posts included or excluded. What’s also cool about this option is that your photos will already have the captions included—easy peasy!
If you like the idea of being able to create a quick photobook, but are wary about sharing your transformation online, you can choose to keep your account private and limit who you share it with—even if it’s only yourself.
Printing Right from Your Smartphone
There are also companies that will take photos right from your phone and create photobooks, calendars, or any number of photo-inspired memorabilia. All you have to do is remember to take photos! If you’re on a physical transformation, take photos that record the changes you’re making to your body or photos that show you doing activities that you weren’t able to do before or that you haven’t done in a long time! If you’re on an emotional transformation, take photos that document significant moments in your journey that will trigger the feelings you had in that moment so you can relive it.
However you choose to record your journey, the important thing is that you DO IT. It doesn’t need to be for anyone but you; but having a record to look back on and see the progress that you’ve made, the work that you’ve done, the changes that you’ve been through, the challenges that you’ve overcome—that is the true importance of record keeping when it comes to personal transformations.
