Life can be stressful. Unfortunately, we aren’t always able to fully control that stress! But, we can change our environments to make it easier to prevent that stress and relax. Today we’ll be discussing how you can better your environment for a happier life!

While you do want your environment to remain relatively uncluttered, that doesn’t mean that you can’t fill it with the things that make you happy! Prioritizing those things will not only help your environment feel happier overall, but it will also help keep the clutter to a minimum. Having a picture of your family, a few of your favorite trinkets, and plants can go a long way when it comes to making your environment feel more like home!

This also doesn’t have to only apply to your home. Making your work area a space you enjoy is important, too! Many people like to keep fun pictures or small plants at their desk. As long as it doesn’t distract you from the tasks at hand, filling your space with things you love is a great way to improve your mood and help you feel more comfortable no matter where you’re at!

When trying to create a happier and more relaxed environment, it’s important to keep in mind that, more often than not, these spaces should be kept separate. Oftentimes work is much more stressful than the things we do at home. If you bring those tasks into your bedroom or living room, you are more likely to associate that stress with your home environment. By keeping work at the office, or even designating an office space at home if possible, you are able to keep the different feelings separated, which makes it easier to breathe and relax in as many spaces as possible.

When your space is cluttered, it makes it harder for you to focus on what you need to do. It’s also very stressful being surrounded by so much stuff! By keeping your space neat and organized, you will feel less weighed down by your environment. It will also help you be more productive, since you’ll know where to find things and have less distractions. It will also make room for the things you really want to surround yourself with, as we discussed earlier. You’re worth the time and effort it takes to have a space you love to live in!
